NASA’s Cassini Mission to Saturn (2003-2017) and Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Mission (2006-present) have produced extraordinarily high-resolution images that have been placed in the public domain.
My interest in photographing landscapes and other aspects of the natural world, (see Topographies), has grown to include these extra-terrestrial images that NASA and JPL have generously provided.
Saturn’s rings are a unique planetary feature unlike anything on or around Earth. The topography of Mars however, seems earth-like but not quite. This disjunction causes one to look more closely, observe more carefully, and appreciate the differences.
